Inspired by a post last week on Frugal Family Fun Blog, we've been making dandelion bouquets to put next to our spring nature basket. We've had fun picking the dandelions for our bouquets and, as well as looking pretty and cheerful, we've had fresh flowers every day for free.
If you're interested in reading more dandelion activity ideas here are some other great dandelion posts from this week you'll enjoy:

There are also lots of dandelion related activities for children at Universal Preschool (including crafts, books, poems, stories, folklore and recipes).

On person's weed is another person's bouquet:-) Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteI did this with my kids and do you know the other day one of them asked me if I remember it LOL they are all now teens. We also loved to make makeup(?) out of the dandelions good for art projects
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny because J just brought me a handful of dandelions yesterday after begging me to stop working so she can play in the dirt. I took her outside and worked on my front porch while she played in the dirt... Sweet post!
ReplyDeleteP.S. You have some great links about kids stuff!
Those photos are so cute!! Thank you so much for the link, and I love seeing the links to other dandelion activities too... wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteThis may be just the right bunch of activities for my lil guy this week----our yard is overcome with dandies!
:)
This is so lovely! I love dandelions...they are so pretty in the grass.
ReplyDeleteHave you mixed their leaves in your salad greens? So good for you! :)
Those dandelions are really pretty!
ReplyDeleteI left you an award on my blog - no need to pass it on unless you want to but I think your blog is fantastic!
Dandelions are really a beautiful flower. They have such a wonderful yellow color.
ReplyDeleteWhere I live dandilions have a bad wrap as a very terrible weed. I actually love to see them in a really green lawn, it is like decorations on a Christmas Tree.
But I do have to agree that when the blossoms die and the seeds form, then they are not so pretty in the lawn. And their leaves don't look so great in the lawn either in my opinion.
But I do love their flowers!!
Thanks for sharing.

My kids always give me dandilions and I put them in a cup on my counter. I know they are a weed but I think they are pretty and my kids are always so proud they gave me flowers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking and have a great weekend.
Believe it or not my Grandmother use to have us pick the leaves and she would cook them..or so she said. Maybe she just wanted us to pick them off of her lawn? It is funny because they really are so colorful and everyone grows them for no money:) Every once in awhile I pick some and bring them into the house for color. Thanks for sharing your post with me as it may be just the thing to share with my grandson this week. Your photos are so cute. Very hot here in GA today so it seems like we are jumping over Spring and hitting Summer already. Enjoy your weekend.

I grew up in MN and loves dadelions but can you believe we don't have them down here in FL. Occationally I will think I see one or two but not like the ones you are talking about. What kid doesn't like blowing on the puff ball? So fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking! Enjoy your weekend~
Such a beautiful and sunny post! I love the boquets.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great set of links! THANK YOU! I haven't birthed this baby yet, but I love collecting ideas...
ReplyDeleteAlso, what a beautiful bouquet =)
Little Bear has been picking lots of dandelions and stuff, too... they do look very pretty! I showed the girls how to hold a dandelion under someone's chin to see if the person likes butter (if there is a yellow reflection on their chin from the dandelion!)
ReplyDeleteDandelions make a good herbal tea as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice bouquet.
Thanks for the ideas! I love dandelions:) We love to make dandelion chains every year, and we've also painted with them too. Also have a recipe for dandelion wine, that I hope to one day use.
ReplyDeletei love the bouquet! just beautiful. all i see now though is food when i look at them. haha.
ReplyDeleteMy 7yo son asked, "Are dandelions weeds?"
ReplyDeleteThey're so pretty with their pop of yellow, it's hard for a young one to imagine that adults would desperately want to dig them out of their yard and dispose of them!
Great post. Pretty bouquets. A beautiful way to make-do and celebrate a childlike love of flowers!
We had quite a rainstorm in Texas last night..the dandelions will be up by tomorrow and I will be dressing my table in yellow as soon as they appear...love your blog and how it relates to enjoying motherhood.
ReplyDeleteYour post reminds me of my childhood in Michigan. I used to cut the stems and put them water and watch them curl up. I loved doing that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! My kids brought me dandelions in a cup of water for my birthday. We often overlook beautiful things like bright yellow round dandelions. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo cute, I'm never sure what to do with them when my kids bring them to me. Yours look like a lovely cheerful bouquet!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I miss dandelions! I am in Texas now. I see very few of them now.
ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon your blog looking for even more info on the Dandy Dandelion!
