A washing line
Sunnyboy has been interested in laundry since he was old enough to sit and watch the washing machine go round. Once he was mobile he started helping me load and unload the machine, and later helped hang washing up indoors to dry. He passes the pegs and clean washing to me when I hang laundry on the line outside too, but obviously is too small to reach it, so we decided to put up a washing line that Sunnyboy could use. He's very pleased with his new washing line and has been doing laundry every day.

ReplyDeleteI am in love with the "look" of laundry on the line, and even more so little ones having fun in the garden doing their 'work' : ) sweet colorful clothespins!
So sweet! When we put our clothesline up outside we included a kid size one too. My boys love to help hang their clothes and then take them off when their dry.

Love this "slow parenting" experience he's having, and I especially love how it starts simple and then he goes wild with the things he can clip onto his own personal line!
ReplyDeleteI got my kids to go out and hang a load of whites this afternoon (they are ages 15, 13, 11 and 7) while I made them crepes for lunch. "I won't even start the crepes until I see that you are on your way out the door with the basket of clothes," I said. They grabbed that basket and the pins, and the clothes are out there right now, wafting in the breeze.
And we finished off the last crepe.
What a great helper!

Nice idea! We hung laundry up north at my parents. The kids thought it was great. It's so humid down here it might never dry.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I love anything that will help a child become involved in a parent's work. It occupies the child so the parent can accomplish something, it teaches the child a good work ethic, and it nurtures your relationship as you work together!
