  1. I was so fascinated by these caterpillars that I wanted to know what they were, so I think I found it: a cinnabar moth caterpillar. The moth is gorgeous. I got a link. Wonderful photo!

  7. Thanks for sharing the photos today. I love to take caterpillars to school in the fall and have my students observe the changes. Many times we are blessed with a butterfly after a waiting period! ♥♫

  11. Must say, I like the flowers much more than the caterpillars...they're creepy grouped so thick like that! Ewwww. LOL

  13. Yep, those are Cinnabar moth caterpillars! They're the best natural control for Oxford Ragwort that we have - they can strip a plant down to the soil. Unfortunately, spraying for weeds has robbed them of their food source and I haven't seen them in that number for several years now. The moth is very pretty too, with fuchsia pink spots and striped on dark chocolate brown. Great shot!

    And I loooooove that first flower. Such a gorgeous blue, and I've always loved irises. I can't grow them here because it's too dry.
