Crafts with packing peanuts

We were given several bags of packing peanuts and used some of them as bricks to make a play area for Sunnyboy's toys. We dipped the packing peanuts in water and put them on a piece of card one by one. After doing this with each layer of packing peanuts we left it overnight so the wet packing peanuts would dry and stick to the card and each other, before adding another layer the next day. Last weekend we decided we'd done enough layers of bricks and it was ready to play with,

and to paint.

Our next project is a packing peanut robot. This picture shows the outline of a robot on the card and the first layer of packing peanuts,

and this picture was taken the next day when we were halfway through the second layer. The packing peanuts from the day before are now dry and have shrunk a little.

  1. Is that a minotaur in the maze?

I love both of these crafts, and so simple, requiring only water and a bit of patience.

  2. Maryanne, I think it's a Ben 10 character but I'm not sure so I'll have to ask Sunnyboy! :)
