The Great Outdoors (a nature photography scavenger hunt)

We visited our local Country Park and took our Spring Nature Hunt printable with us to see what late spring nature finds we could photograph.

We found blossom,

a mushroom ,

a bee,

a ladybird,

a swan,

and more blossom.

We had fun exploring the park,

and playing Pooh Sticks.

We had a look at the map of the Country Park to find out more about some of the other wildlife we saw.

We also saw a squirrel that was too quick to photograph, more flowers and insects, and Sunnyboy was able to tick off several more birds in his Bird Spotting book. It was a beautiful sunny day out. Summer is on the way.

This is my entry to the Center Parcs and Tots100 May challenge. If I’m chosen, I would like to visit Elveden Forest. #CPFamilyBreaks
This month the theme for the Center Parcs May Challenge at Tots100 is 'The Great Outdoors'. Center Parcs’ Seasoned Snapper, Rich Heath, has shared a few tips on the Center Parcs blog and our favourite tip was:
~ Create a photography scavenger hunt.

Perfect picnic (with Teddy and friends)

This month the theme for the Center Parcs May Challenge at Tots100 is 'Perfect picnics'. Summer is nearly here but so is the rain and our perfect picnic turned into a teddy bears tea party indoors. Sunnyboy put on a good spread for Teddy and friends, prepared in his play kitchen.

While we enjoyed our indoor picnic, Sunnyboy and I talked about his birthday party picnic last summer at the Country Park. It one of the hottest days of the year and a perfect day for a picnic and a nature walk. Sunnyboy had a wonderful time celebrating his birthday with friends and family. These are our picnic party posts:

Picnic Party: invitations and nature walk gift bags
Picnic Party: food (and 48 summer recipe links)
Picnic Party: nature walk
and Picnic inspiration on Pinterest

Sunnyboy has big plans for his birthday party picnic this summer and with only a couple of months to go he's ready to start preparing for another perfect picnic.

Let's get growing! (planting a butterfly garden)

This month we're getting Back to nature with the Center Parcs April Challenge at Tots100 and the theme is 'Lets get growing!' Now that spring has finally arrived we've been making plans for our garden and started with planting a butterfly garden. We planted mixed flowers, lavender and thyme seeds from a butterfly garden pack.

We put compost discs in three pots,

then moistened them with water and watched the soil expand.

When the soil was ready we planted the seeds in each pot,

and labelled and decorated lolly stick plant markers.

Four days later and the mixed flowers and thyme have started to germinate (the lavender will take longer) and soon we'll re-pot the plants into larger containers and grow them outdoors.
