Sunnyboy has worked out how to climb on the fence and reach over to unlock the gate. He lets me know when he's going out and holds the gate open for me.

Shadows

Sunnyboy's grandparents visited this week and gave Sunnyboy these pretty stones and shells that they'd brought back from their recent holiday.

Cuisenaire numbers in colour

These boxes of Cuisenaire rods, which cost 25p for each box, were by far our best charity shop find this week. The coloured wooden rods are named after their inventor, Georges Cuisenaire (1891-1976), a Belgian primary school teacher, who published a book on their use in 1952 called Les nombres en couleurs. There are 10 sizes of rods measuring 1 cm to 10 cm and rods of equal length are assigned the same colour.
