Teddy had a baby

Sunnyboy loves playing with cuddly toys and often buys cuddly toys from our charity shop. When he was younger Monkey was his favourite but for the last couple of years the favourite has been Teddy. The other evening, after Sunnyboy had gone to bed, I found a mini teddy bear that I'd bought and hadn't yet given to Sunnyboy. I left the little teddy in big Teddy's lap, on the sofa, for Sunnyboy to find in the morning. The next day when Sunnyboy woke up and went into the living room he was so excited. He came running to me and said, "Mama, Teddy's had a baby", then added, "I didn't know Teddy was a girl".

I love you Sunnyboy. Happy Valentine's Day.

A day out in London

Last week we had a day out in London with Sunnyboy's Nana and Grandad. The first place we visited was the V&A Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green. After we'd finished looking around the museum we took the tube to Trafalgar Square.



We saw Big Ben in the distance,



and Nelson's Column up close.



Sunnyboy sat on the steps of the National Gallery,



and watched some street performers.



Then after admiring Nelson's Column some more,



we walked across the Thames,





and got on the tube again to go to the Princess Diana Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens. Sunnyboy loved the pirate ship.













Back at home the next day we made a map of the route we took on the London Underground, starting at Bethnal Green and ending at Kensington Gardens.



A couple of days later we bought a secondhand copy of 'Getting to know London' by Rosemary Stones,



and enjoyed reading about some of the places we'd been to,







and more places we'd like to visit.

Paper-mache dinosaur egg and Easter celebrations

A few weeks ago I was able to rescue sixty National Geographic magazines that a neighbour had put in a skip and among them we found this issue with a feature on Dinosaur Eggs.



Then last weekend Sunnyboy and Nozy finished making a paper-mache egg (using a balloon to make the shape) and they decided it should be a dinosaur egg. When the paper-mache was dry they cut a hole in the side of the egg and we all helped paint it brown.



We used the leftover paint from our Van Gogh painting.



When the paint was dry we filled the egg with shredded paper and put a baby dinosaur inside.



I haven't really celebrated Easter with Sunnyboy before, other than buying the reduced price chocolate eggs in the supermarkets after Easter, but this year we thought it would be nice to do some Easter activities. Yesterday we did an Easter puzzle book together and made our own Easter chocolates.

Nature walks, a nature window display, gardening and spring flowers

Over the last few weeks we've been on more nature walks. We went to the country park with Sunnyboy's Nana and Grandad again.















When we got home we put some of our nature walk finds in our nature journal and nature storage pages and used more to make a nature window display (with clear plastic cover film folded in half).



We've also been on more nature walks through the cemetery,







and found the lifecycle of the Holly Blue butterfly on the cemetery noticeboard.



We were given a stack of wildlife magazines,



and we found another lovely secondhand book for our Nature Study book collection.



Sunnyboy and Nozy have been planting more vegetables.







For Canana, more spring flowers seen on our nature walks and in our garden.
