Halloween conker characters (and a hedgehog) and a new Halloween costume

We've been collecting conkers and last weekend Sunnyboy thought it would be a good idea to use some to make Halloween conker characters (and a hedgehog).



Sunnyboy has been preparing for Halloween for quite some time, well since last year actually. A while ago he found some costumes at work and tried them on. This was his favourite so he bought it ready to wear at Halloween this year.

When news leaked out and reporters started to bother his patient Lesley Brown, the Oldham gynaecologist Patrick Steptoe brokered an exclusive deal with the Daily Mail. The paper, which especially targeted women readers, ran the story on the front page several times. Louise Brown was born near midnight on 25 July, but instead of a big splash the next morning, the Mail used its access to produce a five-page feature the following day. This gave sympathetic coverage to the Brown family, the prospects for infertility treatment and — after years of mixed press — Steptoe, Robert Edwards and the science of in vitro fertilization.

Sunnyboy has also been helping Nozy to cut back hedges and a tree, build and light a bonfire, do the groundwork for a new summerhouse in the other garden and lay a concrete base under the water butt.

More garden news is that our frog visitor has stayed.
