Festive candle making

Recently we were asked by Baker Ross to review a festive art and craft kit and were delighted to receive a Christmas Candle Making Kit as well as Pic Tixx Candle Pens, Glass Votive Candle Holders and Ceramic Tealight Holders.

I loved this candle making kit because it's so simple to use and does not involve heating wax or making a mess. Sunnyboy loved it because it's a lot of fun to work with and he was able to make candles by himself.

First he broke off squares from the coloured wax blocks,

then molded them with his hands to make the shapes he wanted,

and finally decorated them using the Pic Tixx candle pens, added the wicks and left the candles to harden.

He made a Father Christmas candle,

an elf candle,

and a Christmas tree candle.

He also made some reindeer and a set of Scooby Doo character candles. He will be posting pictures of the Scooby Doo candles on his blog, sunny happy boy, very soon. Right now the Father Christmas candle is lit and we are tracking the movements of Big Red One on www.noradsanta.org.

Note: We received an art and craft kit of festive candle making products from Baker Ross to review but have not received payment for this post. All opinions are our own.

Summer Pinterest for sunny and rainy days

I absolutely love Pinterest and so does Sunnyboy, so we were honoured to be asked to take part in the Pinterest UK launch "Pin It Forward UK". Pinterest is an online place to pin pictures and create vision boards of useful and lovely things! It's perfect for finding, sharing and collecting inspiration and a great way to plan projects and save links to find again when needed. We have found so many good ideas on Pinterest and have used it for all sorts of different purposes, from planning a picnic and designing a mud pie kitchen to saving tips on decluttering and homemaking and finding books we want to read.

I especially love using Pinterest for inspiration on sunny (and rainy) summer days and these are a few of the summer projects from sunnydaytodaymama that we have shared on Pinterest.

If you'd like to join Pinterest you can sign up here and once you've signed up you'll also be following our Sunny Days board.

Here are some more of our favourite Pinterest boards with ideas for Crafts,

Home Education resources,

Nature Study links,

Play ideas and activities,

Sunnyboy's pins,

and our group board for sharing Summer Projects and inspiration including seasonal thoughts, pictures, activities, crafts, recipes, books, art, nature study, celebrations and more. (To contribute to this board please let me know in the comments or contact us here.)

Sign up here to join Pinterest and find lots more summer useful and lovely things!

You can see a list of all the participating #PinItForwardUK bloggers at the Pin It Forward UK Kickoff! It's my pleasure to introduce two more blogs where Pin It Forward UK will be hosted tomorrow. The imagination tree is a wonderful blog with hundreds of ideas for creative play and learning with young children and We Fell In Love is a fabulous wedding blog.

Sunnyboy's homemade Skylanders calendar

Sunnyboy made his own calendar this year using a spare 2013 calendar. He covered the original pictures with plain paper and drew his own Skylander designs.

You can see more posts with a winter theme at our All Year Round Blog Carnival: Winter.
