Cheekyshoes and happy feet

Recently I was delighted to be sent a pair of Cheekyshoes to review. Cheekyshoes are simple, flat, ladies shoes that come in a fabulous range of vibrant, pick-me-up colours including Electric Blue, Luscious Lemon, Sparkling Orange, Sumptuous Cerise, Tomtastic Red and Zesty Green.

I chose Sparkling Orange.

Cheekyshoes are designed to be easy to order online (with a measurement contour to print out and simple size guide) and come in a letterbox friendly package. Once I'd chosen the colour and size I wanted the shoes arrived quickly and I was impressed that they did indeed fit through our letterbox.

As soon as I tried on my new Cheekyshoes I loved them. They fit perfectly and I love that they are so practical and comfortable as well as being fun. They are made with a blend of Lycra and neoprene, making them really flexible, and allowing them to stretch and expand to fit your feet. They also have a lightweight natural rubber sole. I highly recommend them for anyone who wants a reliable, comfortable pair of shoes that look good too!

I now have happy feet.

If you'd like to try a pair of Cheekyshoes too, and put a spring in your step, you can get 30% off your Cheekyshoes purchase if you use the code Spring30.

You can find out more about the Cheekyshoes story and see the Cheekyshoes range (there will be a new collection coming out in June to replace the existing ones) at the Cheekyshoes website and blog, and also follow Cheekyshoes on Twitter and Facebook.

Ice play (coloured ice eggs with balloons, frozen toys and ice links)

We've been doing lots of ice play this summer and one of our favourite ice activities has been making coloured ice eggs with balloons. I prepared this activity while Sunnyboy was in bed and filled the balloons with water, added a few drops of food colouring, then put them in the freezer. The next day we removed the balloons (they came off very easily) and had coloured ice eggs to play with and smash with hammers! I'd matched the food colouring to the same colour balloons which looked great when we peeled off the balloons.

Another of Sunnyboy's old favourites is freezing toys and we've used different size and shape containers to freeze various toys and small objects (including freezing tiny toys in balloons). We call them "ice surprises" and Sunnyboy has lots of fun playing with them in the garden (and in the bath, where he also likes to play with "icebergs").

Jubilee things

I had no plans to celebrate the Queen's diamond jubilee, and still don't, but with all the jubilee talk at the moment I thought it would be nice to show Sunnyboy photographs of me at the silver jubilee in 1977.

Me (left) and my sister

My sister, my dad and me (right)

Sunnyboy and I decided to mark our own jubilee moment in our family history by making a red, white and blue window display,

and we've seen a lot more red, white and blue in the last few days!

We were fortunate to meet the gentleman who lives here when he arrived home while we were taking photographs of his house. He told us it had taken a month to decorate and he has more balloons to go up on Tuesday. We were very impressed with his window display.

Sunnyboy has also learnt the national anthem, had a jubilee gingerbread man from Tesco,

and I made him a jubilee t-shirt. I did get the flag a little wrong but Sunnyboy was still pleased with it and said he'd also like a bonnet like the one I had when I was a little girl.

We haven't made a bonnet yet but we did make a cardboard tube streamer like my silver jubilee one. Well not quite the same, as we added some stars to the tube and then realised it looked like it was based on the US flag. All in all we were very happy with our jubilee things!

Abolish the monarchy, but enjoy the party!
