The book we're sharing this week is Mad Dog McGraw by Myron Uhlberg (with illustrations by Lydia Monks). This is a fun story about a boy who lives next door to a mean dog called Mad Dog McGraw. The boy makes several elaborate but unsuccessful attempts to avoid being chased by Mad Dog, but by the end of the book he comes to a realisation and finds a way to make friends with him.
"I need an umbrella," I tell Mum. "I'm going to sail right over Mad Dog McGraw." "But, sweetheart, you can't fly." "I'll learn fast." I practice all week. On Saturday, there's a strong wind blowing. I grab my umbrella. I'm ready for Mad Dog McGraw.

ReplyDeleteOooo, I love this illustrator! She has such a quirky fun style. The collage work is just fantastic and goes so well with her funny stories. I own a number of her books. Another favourite of mine is "I wish I was a dog" by the same illustrator:-)
