Valentine's Day books (and ducks)

My Valentine's Day gift to Sunnyboy was these two rubber ducks. We've also been reading Valentine's Day books.

Teddy had a baby

Sunnyboy loves playing with cuddly toys and often buys cuddly toys from our charity shop. When he was younger Monkey was his favourite but for the last couple of years the favourite has been Teddy. The other evening, after Sunnyboy had gone to bed, I found a mini teddy bear that I'd bought and hadn't yet given to Sunnyboy. I left the little teddy in big Teddy's lap, on the sofa, for Sunnyboy to find in the morning. The next day when Sunnyboy woke up and went into the living room he was so excited. He came running to me and said, "Mama, Teddy's had a baby", then added, "I didn't know Teddy was a girl".

I love you Sunnyboy. Happy Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day crafts and a heart for our babies

Yesterday we made magazine hearts inspired by Green Baby Guide, then made hearts on sticks inspired by simple as that (we used coffee stirrer sticks).



We plan to give the hearts on sticks to family and friends on Valentine's Day.



We had more magazine hearts than coffee stirrer sticks so we also used some to make a heart mobile with a stick from our nature basket and bits of ribbon.



Sunnyboy found a picture of a dog in one of the magazines we cut the hearts from and it's his favourite magazine heart. As I have an appointment at the IVF clinic on Valentine's Day, Sunnyboy decided this heart should be for our babies (our frozen embryos). He told me I can take it with me to give to the doctor and "ask him to put it on the freezer".

Stories about love

I bought Hug by Jez Alborough for Sunnyboy when he was 15 months old and it has been a favourite ever since. It's a book with only three words but lots of love.



I Love You As Much... by Laura Krauss Melmed is a really sweet picture book lullaby about the love between mothers and children.



Love and Kisses by Sarah Wilson is a beautifully illustrated story that begins, "Blow a kiss and let it go. You never know how love will grow!". We are giving away a copy of this book at sunnydaytodaymama. Valentine's cup cakes and "I 'ove you"

Sunnyboy found Valentine's cup cakes in the reduced section at the Co-op today.

A few days ago when Sunnyboy woke up in the morning he rushed up to me and said "Want to tell you something mama" and when I asked what he wanted to tell me he replied "I 'ove you". Now he is saying he wants to tell me "I 'ove you" several times a day. I love him.
